Brookridge is a locally owned and operated school, founded in 1968 by Dr. Carol Savage. She received her PhD. in Elementary and Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas.

The program has always emphasized quality academics and includes before and after school care facilitated by our certified teachers and qualified assistants. Brookridge provides a choice of full-time Day School or part-time preschool with optional extended care. Additionally, we offer a variety of field trips, extra-curricular activities, after school clubs and performing arts.

Brookridge is fully accredited by the Kansas State Department of Education as well as licensed by the Kansas State Department of Health and Environment.

At Brookridge Day School, we believe the secret to learning is within the child rather than the method. There are so many differences among children. Learning style, personality type, background, general knowledge and experience all contribute to which approach produces the best results with each child. Therefore, rather than using one approach, exclusively, our learning day is divided to accommodate The Developmental Approach, The Individual Approach, and The Traditional Approach.

You will see in each classroom a set of shelves from which children may choose games, building toys, and dramatic play (developmental).

A second set of shelves is filled with individual manipulatives and discovery activities including unifix cubes, puzzles, counters, etc. (individual).

A third area is set aside for small group teacher-directed instruction. It is here that the children listen, watch demonstrations and respond to lessons to further their skill levels (traditional).

It is our objective to set up the environment where the child is exposed to as many different ways to learn as possible. Ultimately, the use of all three approaches will enhance the probability of successful experiences for every learner.
